COMMUTERS and staff on a busy Merseyrail train could have been killed when a paving slab was thrown onto its roof, a police inspector warned last night.

The concrete block was dropped from a footbridge between Rice Lane and Walton Station yesterday at 5.15pm and landed on top of a passing train.
