MERSEYSIDE could become an international centre for the controversial ship dismantling and recycling industry.
Peel Ports, which owns the Port of Liverpool, has applied for planning permission for a ship scrapping centre at the Canada Graving Dock, in Bootle. Staffordshire-based Leavesley International has won a Defence Ministry contract to scrap HMS Intrepid and wants the work to be done at Peel's new centre.See the full content of this document
