Summary

TULIPS are the 'it' indoor cut flower and are so easy to grow, lasting for years if the bulbs are lifted after flowering and stored in a cool, dry situation, although some can be left in the ground.

They flower between March and late May, depending on the variety. Among the most dramatic is the deep burgundy Queen Of Night, which looks amazing against a green backdrop or mixed with acid yellow and burnt orange wallflowers in a border. Other smaller, more delicate, varieties ideal for a rockery include T greigii Red Riding Hood and T. kaufmanniana Stresa (red and yellow).
