DESPAIRING Labour MPs last night gave Gordon Brown four days to save his job after the bombshell resignation of a second Cabinet minister threatened to force him out of Downing Street.

Backbenchers said the Prime Minister would not survive if catastrophic results in today's European elections left him too weak to reshuffle his Cabinet in the next few days without more ministers "going on strike".
