HE votes have been counted and the results are in. The winner, and it has to be said by a handsome margin, of this week's just-let- me-back-onthe--telly-please award is Chesney Hawkes. The citation reads: 'The judges are unanimous in their verdict that prior to Mr Hawkes' appearance on Channel Four's The Games this week, there had been collective certainty over the passing of Mr Hawkes's career, and indeed quite possibly of the passing of Mr Hawkes himself.

'However, having enjoyed 15 years of complete anonymity, a sentence richly deserved for penning (I am) The One and Only , Mr Hawkes has employed the previously unseen tactic of sumo wrestling in order to reappear on the mainstream schedules.
