WHILST I would take issue with your editorial comment "We all lose out as jail is scrapped" (Daily Post September 24), on the basis that further prison building is counterproductive, as indicated, for example, by massive re-offending, the implication in the editorial that problems exist for families visiting prisoners in English jails, often distant ,cannot be denied.
May I therefore make the plea to Welsh Secretary Peter Hain, Hywel Williams MP for Caernarfon, and David Hanson MP, and the many councillors who supported the case for closer links between prisoners and their families, to press for changes in the system and in particular the Prison Rules.See the full content of this document
