A MAN who attempted to rescue an iguana was facing surgery to remove part of his finger last night after he was bitten while trying to carry it down from a tree.

Darren Green scaled a 50ft leylandii tree after fire fighters and RSPCA officers decided that it was more prudent to leave the five feet-long reptile to descend in its own good time.
