LESS than a quarter of Britons think they will be able to maintain a comfortable standard of living during retirement While 46% of people admit they haven't made any financial arrangements apart from contributing to the state pension.

According to professional services firm Deloitte & Touche women look set to be worse off during retirement than men, with 52% saying they only have a state pension, compared with 40% of men, People living in Scotland are the worst prepared for retirement with 54% of people relying on the state pension, while people in the North are not much better with 48% failing to make any additional financial provision.
