ARCHAEOLOGISTS said yesterday that they have uncovered the remains of a Roman lead smelting site in a peat bog in mid Wales.

The mines in Cors Fochno, or Borth Bog, near Aberystwyth were thought to supply the metal for production 2,000 years ago.
