LIVERPOOL airport's biggest airline, Ryanair, yesterday warned that a "perfect storm" of higher oil prices and weaker consumer demand could hit next year's profits by up to 50%, as it announced a fall of 27% in its third-quarter figures.

Profits declined from pounds 36m to pounds 26.3m, despite a 21% rise in passenger numbers for the three months to December, while its load factor - the number of seats occupied - remained at 81%.
