Summary
COLIN MONTGOMERIE is remaining upbeat over his chances of securing a place at the Masters in April despite slipping further down the world rankings after missing out on a top-10 finish at last week's Abu Dhabi Golf Championship.
The Scot set his sights on securing "three top 10s or a couple of top fives" over the three-event desert swing but fell short at the first hurdle after a final-round 71 left the eight-time Order of Merit winner joint 23rd and three strokes short of his target. That finish dropped the 44-year-old down four places to 65th in the world rankings and Montgomerie knows results at this week's Qatar Masters and the then the Dubai Desert Classic are crucial to him reaching the top 50 by the start of April to secure a trip to Augusta.See the full content of this document
