Summary

Where is it? The hills south of Dolwyddelan. What's the attraction? Seclusion, exhilarating views and varied terrain. How do you get there? Dolwyddelan is in the upper Lledr Valley on the A470 between Betws-y-Coed and Blaenau Ffestiniog. Turn left in the centre of the village toward the station. Plenty of free parking either side of the road (map ref, 736 523). If you're driving from the east, be prepared after Betws for delays from three sets of temporary traffic lights.

How long does it take Three and a half to four hours. Difficulty rating? Moderate. Quite a lengthy hike with a long, steady ascent initially and some boggy bits to navigate, but no scrambling. The middle section along the ridge could be a problem in bad weather as the track is often ill-defined. So give this walk a miss if visibility is poor.
