A BRILLIANT innings of 123 not out, lasting just 76 balls, by Dorset batsman Steve Selwood carried Oulton Park into the final of the Cheshire Cup against shell-shocked Macclesfield. Macclesfield, who had trounced New Brighton in the semi-final, posted 206-8, inwhich former Ormskirk allrounder John Davies took 3-37. Selwood had the match won at 210-2 in just 26 overs, helped by Nathan Dumelow (39) and Paul Berry (32). They now host holders Bowdon in the final next Sunday (1pm The Cheshire Shield was won by Burnage for the first time when they beat Wirral opponents Parkfield Liscard by 87 runs. Mohammed Kamran hammered a superb 93 in Burnage's tally of 254-8, before Parkfield, who also lost the 2002 final, replied with 167 (Gary Ratcliffe 54Amir Bhatti 3-59). Only 22 points separate the top three clubs in the First Division of the Murray Smith Accountants Cheshire County League.
