IT IS great to hear that the Fees Office has finally apologised to Ben Chapman MP for all the damage that it did on his reputation. The fact that there was no overall loss to the taxpayer, due to him not claiming for other items, should mean that there should be no stain on Mr Chapman's reputation.

It is a shame that this single mistake by the Fees Office, for which Ben had no part, has led to him deciding to step down at the next election. He has been a great public servant to the constituency of Wirral South, and has been far more present and helpful than MPs from other areas.
