THROUGHOUT Europe bread is an essential component of any meal. The French refuse to dine without it, while the Spanish always serve their traditional tapas either on or accompanied by bread For the Italians bread has always been at the very centre of religious, family and social life, almost every town or village having a 'via del forno' - literally Oven Street - right in the heart of the historical centre.

Until last year we made our own bread. However, after opening our deli on Allerton Road our chefs found it impossible to keep up with the increased demand and we turned to local artisan bakers Born and Bread.
