NORTH Wales councils are winning the battle against waste according to new figures.

Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd and Wrexham were nearly 43,000 tonnes under their 2010 target cap for sending biodegradable municipal waste (BMW) - which includes kitchen scraps, paper and cardboard - to landfill tips.
