THE work of a dedicated army of volunteers was celebrated at Moor Park, Crosby earlier this month when Northern was hailed as one of the Central Council for Physical Recreation's National Sports Clubs of the Year for 2006.

"Northern is a centre of excellence and it's doing everything a community sports club should do - as well as achieving sporting success," said CCPR chief executive Tim Lamb shortly after representing clubpresident Paul Davies with an award first handed over in London last year.
