THE wind was whipping in off the Mersey and the sand was storming across the beach. But my son's dearest wish that day was to touch one of Antony Gormley's Another Place statues. I heaved his wheelchair across the unforgiving sand, and taking much longer than it would have taken had he been able to run over, we eventually arrived.

"It's all rusty and look at his willy mum!" he chuckled.
