Summary
AFEW gems sparkle at ground level in November, such as schyzostylis, the Kaffir lily, a lovely late flowering perennial for moist soil in sun or a little shade.
It has broad spears of foliage, almost evergreen and delicate flower sprays similar to freesias, the sword like buds appearing in autumn. S. coccinea Major is possibly the most common with rosy red flowers, whereas Fenland Daybreak has coral pink blooms. Wilfred H Bryant is less common, late flowering, with white flowers tinged pink.
