SUPERMARKETS look set to be given the go-ahead to open 24-hour pharmacies under new rules expected to be unveiled by the government soon.

English health minister Rosie Winterton is likely to announce on Wednesday that the laws controlling the number and location of chemists allowed to dispense NHS prescriptions are to be eased.
