MENTAL toughness is being taught at a Merseyside high school languishing near the bottom of the country's GCSE tables.

Just 18% of All Saints Catholic High School year-11 pupils managed five GCSEs including maths and English last year. Even in an authority that slumped to the bottom of the UK's league tables, this was a below par performance.
