CYPRUS. The name alone conjures up thoughts of golden sandy beaches, year-round sunshine and a history so unique, nothing compares. Over the centuries the island has been controlled by most of the great Mediterranean powers.

From Alexander the Great to the Romans, they've all tried to stake their claim resulting in European, African and Middle Eastern cultures uniquely fused and creating warm and friendly locals. Today history and hedonism are flawlessly intertwined on the island. With captivating five-star resorts neatly placed within walking distance of well-preserved Greek and Roman ruins, Cyprus offers every amenity the modern traveller has come to expect, and more. Ayia Nap a for example, built around a 16th century monastery but it's a world famous, bustling resort certainly part of the 21st century and boasting the most glorious white sandy beach on the island, Nissi Bay.
