WITH so many spas now open all over the world, you'd be hard pressed to head to a city in Europe which doesn't have one. The tradition started with the Ancient Egyptians in 2000BC,and Romans brought the first spa to Britain, appropriately to Bath in AD43 - spa being an acronym for the Latin sanitas per aquas.

Early European spa culture may have focused on the importance of water's healing qualities,but these days, thecontinent's rich spa tradition incorporates different healing therapies from around the world, while still including hydrotherapy -the therapeutic use of water.
