THREE of the region's universities have made it tougher for students to get in, amid a surge in demand for places.

The Daily Post has learned Liverpool Hope University, Liverpool John Moores and Ormskirk-based Edge Hill have all increased the minimum expected grades and point scores students must possess to gain a place.
