Name Matthew Fox Image Rugged survivor Best Known For Playing Dr Jack Shepherd in Lost Early Life Born in Pennsylvania in 1966, Matthew's parents raised longhorn cattle and horses and grew barley for Coors beer. He attended Columbia University where he played football and majored in Economics with the intent to end up on Wall Street. However, his girlfriend's mother was an agent who convinced him to try some modelling which led to a couple of TV adverts, and he was sold on acting.
Career At the age of 25, Fox made his debut on an episode of Wings. That same year, he also starred in a short-lived dramatic series, Freshman Dorm, and landed several supporting roles on TV. In 1994 he was cast in the 1990s teen drama, Party of Five as the eldest of five siblings who lose both parents in a car crash. Since 2004, Fox has played the role of the troubled and dedicated surgeon, Dr Jack Shephard, in Lost. He initially auditioned for the role of James "Sawyer" Ford. However, co-creator J J Abrams thought he would be better suited to the role of Jack. He has begun landing major film roles.See the full content of this document
