Summary

UNFORTUNATELY, J R Humphreys reverts to old, tired excuses (Dec 1). Must we in Wales always look to precedents set by other countries to excuse the funding of the new Assembly building?

The figures on expenditure in England are outrageous, but I do not believe they justify spending pounds 67 million on a new debating chamber. It remains a waste of taxpayers' money which most people do not want. I would NOT support any venture to abolish the Westminster government, neither am I campaigning to abolish the Assembly! May I remind Mr Humphreys that 9, 400 people across North Wales have already signed my petition. If this support were translated to a national level, he would find most people do not want the building!
