AS every fashionista knows, in the heady world of catwalk style, hand-stitched haute couture doesn't come cheap. If you want to stand out from the crowd but don't fancy buying clothes off high-street pegs, you'd better have a wardrobe budget to rival a whole team of Premiership footballers' wives. Because made-to-measure gowns that are individually designed, drawn, crafted and, finally, worn to glittering events, have price tags to rival most people's mortgages.

Designs by Bangor born Julia Grffiths Jones don't quite fit into that category. But her utterly unique frocks come close. Each one takes two months to make from scratch, as Julia carefully contemplates size, fabric and colour - and with eye-stinging prices from pounds 800-pounds 2,500, these are clothes you'd want to show off at every occasion, not shove to the back of the closet.
