Summary
Major Movie Star (12) JESSICA SIMPSON plays a Hollywood starlet whose life is thrown into chaos when she discovers her boyfriend is gay and sleeping with her long-time agent, while her uncle has stolen most of her accumulated fortune. After a drinking session and crashing her car, she finds herself in an US Army recruitment office wishing to leave her old life behind. Thrown into training camp, she realises her error of her ways but the Army is determined not to let their star new recruit go. Simpson in an Army outfit has obvious echoes of similar ditzy blonde Goldie Hawn in Private Benjamin, 20 years before her, but sadly this has none of Benjamin's charm. Simpson just doesn't have the range to bring the role to life and the attempts at comedy fall dreadfully flat. If you don't see it, you will have missed precisely nothing.
