A 71-YEAR-OLD farmer was warned yesterday he could be jailed for breeding and selling puppies in conditions described by a vet and RSPCA officer as the worst they had seen.

Collie-type dogs were found standing on wire mesh covered in faeces in the freezing snow when RSPCA and police officers raided Ashford Farm in Halkyn, near Holywell, in March last year.

One dog was chewing at the carcass of a dead sheep while other dogs were found to be infected with parasites.
