NORTH Wales is ideally positioned to grow as a centre for the development and exploitation of renewable energy, a conference will be told this week.

But delegates from businesses and industry will hear that although there are many examples of renewable and green industries in the region - names such as the Dinorwig Power station, the wind turbines off the North Wales coast and the work done in developing photovoltaic solar cells at Sharp in Llay, near Wrexham - Wales and the UK are not pulling their weight.
