LIVERPOOL'S anti-smoking lobby last night welcomed the Government's decision to allow a free vote for Labour MPs on whether cigarettes should be banned in all pubs.

Downing Street yesterday announced it was caving in to demands to allow all Labour MPs, including ministers, to vote as they wished on an amendment removing the Government's proposed exemption for pubs which do not serve food.
