Summary
THE British Wind Energy Association has always claimed that on- shore wind turbines in the UK yield 30% of their installed capacity. The DTI and Welsh Assembly Government has always accepted this supposition which has become the official basis for calculations regarding the number of wind trubines required by the UK.
However, recent statistics from the DTI show that UK wind turbines only average 24% of installed capacity. Even more interesting, it now emerges that the 103, 150-ft high wind turbines an Llandinam, Powys, only yielded an average of 20. 45% of their installed capacity over the eight months from January to August, 2004.See the full content of this document
